Snyder campaign debuts two new ‘Nerd’ ads, asks supporters to choose

By Todd A. Heywood | 02.18.10 | 11:43 am

The gubernatorial campaign of Republican Rick Snyder is continuing to push its mantra of “one tough nerd.”

The moniker first appeared Super Bowl Sunday in the first ads of the 2010 gubernatorial contest, and now his team has launched a pair of ads online and is asking supporters to vote for which one should be on the air next.

The two, 30-second spots can viewed here.

The first, titled ‘Nerd as Superman,” features Snyder, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet. And as the title implies, it also features the man of steel. The ad ends with Snyder saying, “This nerd gets results.”

The second ad is titled “Grindston.”

“Nerds stop at nothing until they get their task done,” the announcer says. “They’d roll up their sleeves, but don’t own a long sleeve shirt.”

Snyder is battling with Mike Cox, attorney general; Pete Hoekstra, Congressman from Holland; Mike Bouchard, Oakland County Sheriff; Tom George, state senator; and Tim Rujan, Huron County Commissioner for the GOP nomination for governor.
