Coulouris leaves House, joins Dow as lobbyist

By Ed Brayton | 02.05.10 | 7:09 am

State Rep. Andy Coulouris (D-Saginaw) already surprised observers by announcing last month that he would not run for reelection. Now he’s leaving his seat vacant for the last 8 months of his term — and doing it to become a lobbyist for Dow Corning. The Saginaw News reports:

State Rep. Andy Coulouris said he will quit the Legislature months before his term ends and become public affairs manager for Dow Corning Corp. in Washington, D.C.

Coulouris, 31, who exclusively told of his plans Wednesday to The Saginaw News, said he will leave the elected post April 30 and start work in Washington in May. His seat will remain vacant until immediately after the Nov. 2 election, he said.

This is very disappointing for someone who was, just a few months ago, considered a real rising star in Michigan politics.
