Bouchard announces fundraising totals

Oakland County Sheriff and GOP candidate for governor Mike Bouchard announced his campaign had raised nearly $1 million so far.

The Oakland Press reports Bouchard said Saturday his campaign for governor had raised $900,000, with over 1,700 people donating $100 or less.

Bouchard will square off for the GOP nomination with Mike Cox, attorney general; Rick Snyder, an Ann Arbor businessman; Pete Hoekstra, Congressman from Holland; Tom George, state senator from Kalamazoo; and Tim Rujan, Huron County Commissioner. Campaign finance reports are due Monday afternoon with the Secretary of State.

Snyder announced in January his campaign had raised $3.2 million, while Cox announced his campaign had raised over $1.8 million. Bouchard downplayed his significantly lower campaign war chest in comparison to Cox and Snyder by noting Snyder has loaned his campaign an undisclosed amount, while Cox has been campaigning for nearly a year.
