Riddle is his own worst enemy – take two

By Ed Brayton | 01.27.10 | 7:21 am

This may be the most appalling statement made by Sam Riddle on the 2000 — yes, two thousand — hours of wiretapped phone calls the FBI got of him. On one of those calls, Laura Berman reports, he says to a (male) friend, “Did I ever tell you I would have pimped — but I didn’t like the night air? But when you’re running these political women, it’s really close to the same thing.”

He is referring to Monica Conyers, the disgraced former Detroit City Council member who pleaded guilty to the same bribery and corruption charges Riddle is now facing; Mary Waters, a former state representative with whom he had a romantic and political relationship; Kay Everett, a former Detroit City Council member who was also convicted of bribery and corruption charges while he worked for her, and probably other women he has worked for in politics as well.
