Prosecutors want Kilpatrick’s probation revoked

By Ed Brayton | 01.14.10 | 7:08 am

Things may have gone from bad to worse for disgraced former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. In addition to wanting a judge to order Kilpatrick to immediately pay $225,000 in back restitution pay, now the Wayne County Prosecutor wants the judge to declare him in violation of his probation for failing to report tens of thousands of dollars in income while pleading poverty. The Detroit News reports:

Thursday, Worthy filed a probation request asking Groner to consider an additional sentence, which could include jail. In more than 100 pages, she accuses Kilpatrick of violating probation by failing to make appropriate restitution payments and failing to disclose assets. Kilpatrick is on probation until 2013, and probationers ruled in violation could be ordered to serve the rest of their sentence behind bars.

The prosecutor is also seeking an order to garnish Kilpatrick’s wages so his restitution payments are taken directly out of his pay.
