If you don’t watch or read another political talking head critique Barack Obama’s speech after accepting the Democratic nomination for President of the United States, this is one that you won’t want to miss. Conservative and often controversial political commentator, a former advisor to the late President Richard M. Nixon, and vehement spewer of extreme right-wing talking points, Pat Buchanan was totally blown away by Obama’s speech last night at Invesco Field.
As MSNBC host Rachel Maddow sat beside Buchanan while he spoke, she appears frozen, sitting in stunned disbelief as Buchanan describes Obama’s speech as “Genuinely outstanding.” A speech that “came out of the heart of America.” “Not a liberal speech at all.” Buchanan searches through a prepared transcript of the speech carefully lifting out sections that specifically moved him, and continues to just gush nothing but praise until finally Keith Olbermann is forced to cut him off is as they run out of time on the air.
