After four years of operation in Michigan, the board of the American Independent News Network, has decided to shift publication of its news into a single site, The American Independent at Americanindependent.com. This is part of a shift in strategy, towards new forms [...]

Keep the helmet on, Walberg, and ease off the fumes

By LoRayne Apo-Joynt | 08.28.08 | 4:49 pm

Rep. Tim Walberg (R-Tipton) is campaigning from the back of his Harley Davidson across the 7th Congressional District, as Eric B. points out at Michigan Liberal today.  Based on Walberg’s comments, I’ll hazard a guess that exhaust fumes are doing a number on Walberg’s cognitive processes.

Walberg actually thinks a part-time Congress is a great thing and he’d like to return to that model.  But Republicans only worked part-time for much of the Bush administration, spending the rest of the week golfing with lobbyists.  I take it Walberg misses the good old days when he and his Congressional peeps could get away with part-time work for full-time pay.

With regards to Walberg’s comments about cost savings from health care systems integration: based on his education and experience, he knows jack-doodley-squat about the issue.  Anything he has to say about health care, information systems or systems integration you can bet was put in his mouth by a lobbyist.  The questions I’d ask now: which lobbyist for what company?  And how much did he collect in campaign donations for his efforts?

As for Walberg’s negative mewling upon seeing a Stryker-brand hospital bed, I suppose Walberg would like us to call up the Hill-Rom folks and ask them if they’d like to take more of our jobs in Indiana, Minnesota and the Carolinas where they make hospital products that compete with those of Michigan-made, liberal-owned Stryker Corporation. (Don’t do Michiganders any favors, Walberg; the backpedaling on your comments wouldn’t have been necessary if you’d kept your negativity about Stryker to yourself.)

With this display of cognitive dysfunction, we can only hope Walberg keeps his helmet on at all times while riding his Harley; he can’t afford any more injuries to his brain cells.
