Michigan abortion doctor accused of forced abortion

A Fenton Township woman is accusing a well known Flint doctor of performing a forced abortion on her.

The Flint Journal reported Sunday that 20-year-old Cailtin Bruce accuses Abraham Hodari and an assistant of holding her down while they removed her fetus in April of 2008. Hodari contends Bruce expressed misgivings about the procedure well into it, making stopping it dangerous to her health.

Bruce, who was 18 at the time of the incident, was a high school drop out and six weeks pregnant when she sought services from Hodari, who runs the Feminine Care Center in Flint. The Flint Journal reports she was worried she would not have family support for becoming a parent, but decided, while waiting, not to go through with the procedure.

Hodari is praised by his medical peers, the Journal reports, but his clinic has been the target of anti-choice protesters.

When 63-year-old anti-choice activist James Pouillion was killed in Owosso in Sept. he was allegedly preparing to protest at Feminine Care Center later that day.
