Hoekstra leads latest gubernatorial poll

By Ed Brayton | 11.23.09 | 12:41 pm

The latest poll from Denno-Noor on the 2010 governor’s race shows Rep. Pete Hoekstra has jumped into the lead. The poll of 950 likely voters in the state of Michigan found Hoekstra leading current Attorney General Mike Cox and Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard by a fairly healthy margin. Here are the results for both parties:

Republican Primary:

Rep. Pete Hoekstra: 21 percent
Attorney General Mike Cox: 15 percent
Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard: 13 percent
Businessman Rick Snyder: 5 percent
State Sen. Tom George: 3 percent

Democratic Primary:

Lt. Gov. John Cherry: 20 percent
House Speaker Andy Dillon: 6 percent
George Perles: 6 percent
Rep. Alma Wheeler Smith: 2 percent
Fmr. Rep. John Freeman: 2 percent

Voters from both parties still remain largely undecided, however, so much could change over the next few months. 37 percent of Republicans are currently undecided, while 59 percent of Democrats say they haven’t made up their minds yet.
