An Israeli wastewater treatment company will locate a pilot project in Oakland County, Lt. Governor John Cherry announced this week from Tel Aviv, one of the stops on an economic development mission to the Middle East.
EPC Ltd. Onsite Wastewater Solutions (EPC) is a developer of waste water treatment systems that “focuses on development, production and sales of a range of onsite wastewater treatment plants based on a full biological process.”
“I am pleased to partner with Oakland County and the state of Michigan on this strategic water technology project,” Jeremy Weissman CEO of EPC said in the release issued by Cherry’s office, “If these pilot projects are successful, EPC will consider establishing a manufacturing plant in Michigan to help meet future demand.”
No information was available on the terms of the partnership between EPC, Oakland County and the State of Michigan.
Cherry is also expected to visit Dubai as part of his “Green Jobs for Blue Waters” initiative which seeks to use Michigan’s water resources to leverage economic growth.
“Given the importance of water to our economy and our way of life, we are positioning Michigan to become North America’s center for excellence for water technology,” Cherry stated, “Water technologies are a key focus area and opportunity for growth, representing a $500 billion global market and expecting to grow to $1 trillion by 2020, providing a great opportunity for those who seize it early on.”
