Gov. Jennifer Granholm released a video message Monday about the Michigan Promise Scholarship. In the message, she says she is “angry” about the scholarship’s removal from a final budget she signed into law in October.

The scholarship is going to be a special focus of the governor as she tours several Michigan universities this week, including Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Central Michigan in Mt. Pleasant and Michigan State in East Lansing.

The Michigan Promise Scholarship offered Michigan high school seniors up to $4000 for tuition assistance for doing well on state standardized testing. Nearly 100,000 students were counting on that money, which was eliminated part way into the semester leaving many students wondering how they will come up with the cash to cover the shortfall in their own bills for a college education.
