The Detroit Free Press on Wednesday kept a running account of a full day of meetings and announcements from the new management team at Chrysler as the company revealed its plan to become stable and profitable. New CEO Sergio Marchionne, the Fiat leader who runs the newly restructured Chrysler, said the company intended to make a $3 billion profit in 2014.

Among other items, the company revealed that they would quickly begin to integrate Fiat technology into the existing Chrysler fleet, with 40 percent of the vehicles they build being based on Fiat powertrains. The plan was for the entire line of Chrysler products to be remade by 2012.

“It’s comprehensive, it’s ambitious and it’s serious,” Marchionne said of the company’s turnaround plan. The company projects a doubling of global sales by 2014 and an increase in American market share from 9 percent to 13 percent.

The company also unveiled the new, more streamlined logo you see at the top of this post.
