It’s official: Obama picks Joe Biden for VP!

Wheeeee!

Barack Obama selected Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware late Friday night to be his vice presidential running mate, according to a Democratic official, balancing his ticket with an older congressional veteran well-versed in foreign policy and defense issues.

Biden, 65, has twice sought the White House and is a Roman Catholic with blue-collar roots, a generally liberal voting record and a reputation as a long-winded orator.

Across more than 30 years in the Senate, he has served at various times not only as chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee but also as head of the Judiciary Committee, with its jurisdiction over anti-crime legislation, Supreme Court nominees and constitutional issues.

Rumors of Obama/Bayh bumper stickers’ being printed up already had my stomach in knots most of the evening. It seems that the clever MSM had staked out the potential VP nominees’ homes waiting for a Secret Service detail to be dispatched to the chosen one, which led to CNN’s announcing an anonymous source within the campaign had given the word that Biden was the pick.  Then, of course, all of us who had been promised our text messages and e-mails with the news had to be notified before we could wake up to read it in the news.  This probably worked out well for a time to send those messages during a low-usage time for texts, and if it miffed any of the MSM off in the process, that’s all good, too.
