Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard has garnered the endorsement of GOP leader and Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson in his bid for the governor’s mansion.
The announcement came this morning WJR talk radio and was made by Bouchard’s running mate Terri Lynn Land, reports MLive.com.
Patterson toyed with a run for governor earlier this year, but declined to run.
Bouchard, who is seeking the GOP nomination for 2010 in a crowded field which includes Rep. Pete Hoekstra, Attorney General Mike Cox, State Sen. Tom George, Ann Arbor businessman Rick Snyder, and Huron County Commissioner Tim Rujan, has teamed with Terri Lynn Land, the Secretary of State. Land is term limited and ended a bid for the governor’s mansion earlier this year to sign onto Team Bouchard as the Lt. Gov candidate.
In addition to the Brooks endorsement, The Oakland Press reports that Bouchard has filed the necessary paperwork to accept public financing for his campaign, joining Hoekstra and George in a move that will limit private donations in their races.
