1. Drinking and getting drunk of age is not illegal. No action needed.
2. Marijuana is illegal. Everyone who had or smoked it that night, should have a charge against them including Piechotte from the state and from the school system, likely extending into be fired from their positions as teachers. Our children need to know their school administration does not support behavior. I would remove my child from that school system if action is not taken.
3. Sexual Activity with a individual who you are not in an ongoing consensual sexual relationship with who is obviously intoxicated is not illegal, but should be. Whether one intoxicates themselves or is intoxicated intentionally by another (such as rape drugs), their ability to make a decision about this important area is compromised. I would like to see laws that reflect this.
4. Drawing on another person's body is not illegal, although ignorant and immature. It IS illegal in this situation, although because they were colleagues which is unwanted and unwelcomed sexual stress in Piechotte's relationships to her colleagues and is CLEARLY the definition of sexual harassment. I believe if she pursued it under this scope, she would clearly win in any court.

If I have to compromise my moral values and condone men's writing lewd, unwanted messages on a woman's unconsious body to be taken seriously, I will live my life happily without men's acceptance.

My experience with men with whom I have worked over many years has been quite the opposite; I cannot imagine that any of my fellow professionals would have, under any circumstances, treated another human being with such disrespect. And, guess what? I was well-respected by my colleagues because I held myself to a high moral standard and did my job with excellence. (Oh – even though I am a woman, I was an executive.)

Perhaps the teachers who did this to their female colleague did not mean any harm, but the fact that they were unaware of the gross inappropriateness of their behavior speaks volumes about their moral compasses.

Not all men are “dumb.” I have male friends, a husband, son, and son-in-law who treat women (especially strong women with strong values) with respect and are outraged about what happened to Veronica Piechotte.

Finally, how can this NOT be a school district issue? These people are role models and teachers of our children. Even if unintentionally, it is possible that they transmit messages through their actions, comments, and perspectives. For example, I know a former HHS student who mentioned recently that the pot-smoking of one of the men involved was well known by students, as were his spoken sexual inunendos.

The fact that you think this is funny suggests a serious lack of compassion for others.

The fact that you resort to making fun of a victim's name . . . come on!

How dare ANY of you try to throw a blanket over this situation just because they were all friends, or because she was drunk. That doesn't mean a thing in a case like this. The fact that so little was done about this makes me sick. Assault and sexual harassment are exactly what they are, and there is no belittling it just because you think it's okay.
