The Michigan Messenger going forward

By Staff Report | 11.16.11

I am writing today to announce the closure of the Michigan Messenger. After four years of operation in Michigan, the board of the American Independent News Network, has decided to shift publication of its news into a single site, The American Independent at Americanindependent.com. This is part of a shift in strategy, towards new forms [...]

Hoogendyk using oil fears as campaign tool

By Todd A. Heywood | 08.19.08 | 9:05 am

Republican Jack Hoogendyk, R-Kalamazoo, is hoping sticker shock and the war on terror tie together to get people to support his plans to be elected U.S. Senator.

Hoogendyk is hoping to use fear-mongering to get people to support his plan to open up the Gulf of Mexico and the Arctic to more drilling. The problem is, he points out Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iran and Venezuela as locations we are getting oil from.

The reality is, according to Energy Information Administration, we get our oil first from Canada, then Saudi Arabia. Russia is 10th on the list, Venezuela is fourth. Iran does not even make it into the top 15 countries supplying the U.S.

Hoogendyk will face Carl Levin, D-Detroit, in November. He has consistently been running in the mid-30′s in polls.

Like Jack Hoogendyk, I hope that the astronomical price of gas and the reality of Islamic extremism DOES wake Michiganders up to the anti-American antics that Carl Levin has been voting in favor of, on our behalf, in the US Senate. It is high time Carl Levin were voted out of office.

As a mother of four children, no thanks Mr. Levin I do not wan't homosexual sensitivity classes forced upon my impressionable children in the public school system which my tax dollars support.

No thanks Mr. Levin, I do not want my Michigan Senator signing over American sovereignty to the United Nations via ratification of the Law of the Sea Treaty.

No thanks Mr. Levin I do not think we can continue wasting tax dollars on the already failed persuit of ethanol as a viable alternative fuel source. Meanwhile Mr. Levin has done absolutely nothing to support the use of our own abundant natural resources and has infact set road blocks in the way of doing so. China is drilling 50 miles off the coast of Florida and Mr. Levin is assisting radical liberals in keeping the hands of “we the people” tied in the development of energy independence. The United States purchased Alaska with the explicit intent of obtaining the abundant natural resources there and Mr. Levin is more concerned about the ever growing polar bear population than he is about the safety and well being of our own Michigan families this winter.

No thanks Mr. Levin, I do not want one red cent of the money I spend on fuel going to the OPEC nations that despise America and are aiding in killing and maiming our service men and women. I do not wish to see Americans buy one gollon of fuel from Russia when we know it is being used to fund the crushing of democracy and freedom in Georgia.

No thanks Mr. Levin, I do not believe there is a scientic consensus on global warming simply because radical liberals say there is and I am reluctant to see the American economy further damaged by more taxation in the mythical name of man made global warming.

I'm voting for Jack Hoogendyk this November. It is our civic duty as Christians, as Americans, and as Michiganders to vote radical liberalists like Carl Levin out of office and replace him with a common sense Christian Conservative, Jack Hoogendyk.

Wowwee. That's quite the doozy you worked up there, Amanda. Care to point to any of the offensive bills that Levin allegedly supported to make your case?

And while you're at it, why don't you snap a copy of a Google Earth map showing those rumored Chinese drilling platforms off Florida.

Oh, and one more thing: show me where it says in the Bible, New or Old Testament, that we're supposed to vote for Hoogendyk, eh? I remember reading, “Give unto Caesar what is Caesar's,” but nothing that said, “Thou shalt vote for Jack Hoogendyk or bear my wrath!” WWJD, really?

Carl Levin was rated 100% by the NARAL, indicating a pro-choice voting record.

-40+ million defenseless souls have been snuffed out through legalized abortion (pre-meditated murder) since 1973. That's more than were killed in the Holocaust. That is also a clear violation of the 6th Commandment. Do the research yourself, the Hebrew word for kill specifically means pre-meditated murder, not killing in defense of self, family, or country.

Carl Levin has been rated 0% by the Christian Coalition.

-Carl is not exactly a proponent of family values. Carl has voted against VOLUNTARY prayer in schools.

Carl Levin was rated 84% by the League of Conservation voters on environmental issues.

-The LCV is one of many wealthy and powerful lobbyist groups that are preventing us from drilling for additional oil ANYWHERE, proventing us from drilling for abundant natural gas, preventing us from developing clean coal, preventing us from funding research for the development of safe nuclear energy, and now even preventing us from laying power lines that would transport wind energy from turbines to our homes. Environmentalists' latest outrageous claim is that the wind turbines will kill the bats!

Carl Levin was rated F (as in FAILURE) by the NRA.

        - You know what this means…this means if Carl had his way, when some looney tune tried to track me down in Manitou Beach Michigan, Carl would like it if myself and my husband were unable to defend ourselves, our home, and our children.

Carl Levin voted NO on $75 million in funding for abstinence education in public schools. Yet Carl Levin is in favor of the bill against “Bullying”. Sounds righteous doesn't it? But slipped in there, is mandatory forced “tolerance” and “sensitivity” classes regarding homosexuality. Why? When statistics show that children do not determine their sexual orientation until after high school, why does Mr. Levin want to use my tax dollars to indoctrinate my impressionable young children with the notion that homosexuality is the acceptable social norm?

Furthermore, I am a Registered Nurse and ALL of the medical research is conclusive that abstinance is the ONLY way to prevent unwanted teen pregnancies and exposure to sexually transmitted infections.

Are you familiar with the Law of the Sea Treaty dear? If ratified, for the first time in the history of our country American citizens would be subject to the World Court of the United Nations rather than only the courts of our own sovereign nation. Check the voting record of UN member states. They demand more and more money from us but most of them vote against the U.S. greater than 80% of the time. While your at it, check out the United Nations' track record regarding corruption. A good place to start would be the “oil for food scandal”.

Do you remember when the US first went into the Iraq war and the former president of France, Jaques Chirac, was so outspoken against the United States. Remember Americans were boycotting French wine and smashing wine bottles in the streets. Well, as it turns out Jacques Chirac, among others, was in Sadam Hussein's pocket. The money we were shelling out for food to Iraqi's was being spent on bribes to vote against America within the UN. Why on earth does Mr. Levin want to get us in deeper with the UN?

The Law of the Sea Treaty would also violate our Constitution in that, for the first time in U.S. history, American citizens and businesses (namely oil companies) would be subject to international taxation. Our Constitution declares that “we the people” have the power to elect the legislatures that determine how much tax we pay. If we don't like the tax we pay, we have the freedom to vote that representative out of office. Carl Levin has responded to me personally and informed me that he is in favor of ratification of this treaty. Carl Levin is in favor of taking away Americans' ability to vote for those that impose taxation on us. Coincidentally, Joe Biden tried to hurriedly push through ratification of this same said treaty last winter. Thank God for the Republican fillibuster that stopped it. This is one of many reasons why we must not let radical Democrats gain control of the Senate in November either.

The Old Testament is loaded with accounts of wayward kings leading the whole nation down paths of unrighteousness, sin, and destruction. Voting for individuals that are in favor of murder of the innocent, sexual promiscuity/perversion, and banning our Christian heritage and faith in God from institutions of learning, court houses, and the public square will only lead to severe retribution.

Voting for these liberal Democrats is a death knell for American sovereignty. It is our civic duty as Christians and as Americans to get out there and vote for the individuals that will uphold the traditional Judoe-Christian values that America was founded on and have made us the most blessed nation on earth.

I'll get back with you later on the Chinese drilling for oil off the coast of Florida.

        • Amanda

“The Chinese have forged a deal with Cuban leader Fidel Castro to explore and tap into massive oil reserves almost within sight of Key West, Florida. At the same time, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who controls the largest oil reserves in the Western Hemisphere, is making deals to sell his country's oil to China, oil that is currently coming to the United States.”

Source, please? I see the reporter at American Free Press wrote this, but there's no company names, no names of persons with whom this was confirmed, and most importantly (and I did make a point of asking about this), there's no satellite photos to show exactly where these alleged Chinese drilling operations are.

This is a report that we would never accept here at this outlet as proof — something with no sourcing. Without verifiable sources, it's just propaganda. Obviously some Americans have lost their ability to think critically and will believe anything in print, on television or radio.
