Enter Freeman: Former state lawmaker enters Democratic race for governor

By Todd A. Heywood | 07.23.09 | 12:06 pm

Former State Rep. John Freeman of Oakland County has formally announced his intention to secure the Democratic nomination for governor in 2010 joining State Rep. Alma Wheeler-Smith of Salem Township in the race to succeed Gov. Jennifer Granholm. Lt. Gov. Freeman represented Madison Heights from 1992 to 1998 when he was term limited. He has been an active labor organizer and is currently working on getting universal health care passed, according to an MLive.com report.

“The solutions in our state capitol are stale and out of touch,” he said in a statement.
