Here’s another entry in the pattern of racist statements from prominent young Republican activists mentioned in an earlier article. David Weigel of our sister site, the Washington Independent, catches this statement from Jason Mattera, spokesman from Young America’s Foundation, on his Twitter feed:
“If Sotomayor gained life experience from The Ghetto, does that mean she’d have a tendency to shank Scalia?”
Mattera’s bio at the YAF webpage calls him “the surprisingly fresh face of conservatism” and says that he “has spoken at conferences and schools across the US, written for many conservative publications, including Human Events, National Review Online, and Townhall.com, and represented young conservatives on television’s ‘Hannity and Colmes,’ ‘Fox & Friends,’ ‘Hardball,’ ‘Washington Journal’ and on dozens of radio shows including the Sean Hannity, Mike Gallagher, and Michael Reagan programs.” Fresh face indeed.
The Young America’s Foundation is a different organization than Young Americans for Freedom.
