Robert Groves, director of the University of Michigan’s Survey Research Center, has finally been confirmed to head the U.S. Census Bureau. Republican lawmakers had held up President Obama’s nominee for the job for months before a vote was finally taken yesterday and Groves was confirmed 76-15. Groves served as the associate director of the Census Bureau from 1990 to 1992.
