None, of course. You don't seriously think that a crime could possibly occur at such a gathering, do you? Gun owners are the most extraordinarily law-abiding group in America, being 14 times less likely to commit a crime as the general public.

And even if someone might've wanted to commit a crime, you can't do so when everyone around you is armed.

My mistake. Let me clarify, .234d states that you can not have a firearm in a court. IF you have a CPL a court is not a restrictive place. And .234d exempts a CPL holder in all of the places prohibited in that statute. A Michigan Supreme Court administrative rule bans firearms from court rooms. It is not a law. The charge for a CPL holder having a firearm is contempt of court. There was a charge made in Wayne County a few months ago and I believe is being challenged as unlawful. We shall see what the results will be after any legal actions are exhausted

At this time it is advised not to carry a handgun into any court room.

Since there is no discussion of depriving the population of firearms, I find the loud indignation of some folks counterproductive to an intelligent discussion. There is discussion of who can carry handguns, and where they may carry them; this is why we have handgun regulation. This is the issue.

My comment of "marksmanship" was to assure discussion participants that I am not a gun foe. I own 2 rifles and a shotgun. My Trojan Horse is armed.

I have no interest in your family's sexual orientation, and it bears no relation to the argument. Likewise liberal, conservative, Republicans and other Rightwingers: irrelevant to the argument.

The idea that a handgun will dissuade the government from economic takeover is...interesting. Is it related to the home protection sales pitch I get at the gun store? The officer that taught my handgun permit class demonstrated how chambering a shell in 12 ga. semi-auto is more persuasive that a handgun.

I tried to relate why I am undecided on this issue. I apologize if my questioning has made you uncomfortable or defensive.

I was resonding with an incredulous question about this statement, posted by the president of Michigan Open Carry, Inc. :

"Without a CPL or without permission you can not possess a firearm in a church, bank, a court, a theatre, a sports arena, a day care, a hospital or any place that has a Michigan Liquor license. If you have a CPL you can carry in thoses places but only openly, not concealed."

That plainly states that without a permit you can't carry in the listed places, but with one, you CAN as long as you carry openly.

Now, sir, your response to my post was not only rude and condescending, but misleading as well - I merely asked a question of the poster, one who by virtue of his position in a prominent advocay group, should certainly know what he's talking about. In no way did I state or imply that I took it as gospel, verbatim. Either you are careless, or your reading comprehesion skills are in need of remedial training.

Oh my dear 'Raptor', how very clever to associate supporters of the bill of rights with terrorists. I suppose next it will be child molesters or whatever other demento's becom the new Salem witches. How sad for us and good for you that in our society as we grope for newer levels of decadence, that the accusation carries the weight of truth until adequately defended. Hey, didn't we decide a couple hundred years ago that we didn't like that kind of society? By the way Rap' I never felt safer in a group of people in my life. We even fed a homeless guy!!
