Bing’s chief spokesman resigns unexpectedly

Detroit Mayor Dave Bing’s communications director, Robert Warfield, has stepped down from the new administration, according to a report in The Detroit News.

Warfield was instrumental in leading Bing’s mayoral campaign to victory in the May 5 special election. He the process of finding someone to replace him as president and CEO of the investment firm Alpha Partners LLC and had just taken a yearlong leave of absence from the firm to serve on Bing’s administration. The African-American owned investment and marketing firm currently manages money for the Detroit Pension Board.

Neither Warfield nor Bing’s spokespeople would comment after Warfield announced his resignation Monday, The News reported.
