Army of God defends violent protestors

By Ed Brayton | 05.21.09 | 12:49 am

Andy Birkey at our sister site, the Minnesota Independent, reports on radical anti-abortion group the Army of God speaking out on behalf of a man who drove his car through the entrance of an abortion clinic. This caught my eye because the Army of God has been active in Michigan as well.

In fact, last November we had a member of the group, Ronald Graeser, run against Rep. Pete Hoekstra for his seat in the U.S. House from the 2nd district of Michigan under the Constitution Party. Graeser is one of the people who signed a letter of support for Paul Hill, who murdered an abortion doctor and two other people at a clinic in Pensacola.

The Messenger’s Todd Heywood has also been on the receiving end of more than one death threat from the group.

The Army of God is one of the groups that symbolizes why that Department of Homeland Security report on right wing extremist groups that was released a few weeks ago was necessary and accurate. These people have shown their propensity to use violence in the past and they undoubtedly will do it again.
