Reporter convicted of police obstruction

Diane Bukowski, the Michigan Citizen reporter who was arrested Nov. 4 while documenting the aftermath of a police chase that left two people dead, has been convicted of two felony counts of obstructing police, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Bukowski, who is free on bond, will be sentenced in Wayne Circuit Court on June 1st. The charges carry a maximum penalty of four years in jail.

The ACLU of Michigan has warned that the charges against Bukowski could be retaliation for her coverage of police brutality issues in Detroit.
