Evan Bayh as Obama’s VP? No clear signal.

Despite speculation that Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) will name Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh as his vice presidential nominee on Wednesday, when Michigan Messenger asked a highly placed source in the Obama campaign about the possibility, the source was visibly surprised about the information.

“I don’t know anything about that,” the source said. “I have not heard anything.”

It is not uncommon for campaigns to not inform staffers about vice presidential candidates until it is formally announced. In addition to the talk about Bayh, Virginia Governor Tim Kaine has been the focus of much speculation as a possible running mate, too.
