DeVos son funds major art competition in Grand Rapids

Rick DeVos, son of former Michigan Republican Party chairwoman Betsy and 2006 GOP gubernatorial nominee Dick DeVos, announced today that he is funding a massive art competition in Grand Rapids, WOOD TV 8 is reporting. The event, called ArtPrize, will feature displays throughout a three-square mile section of Grand Rapids and will run for two weeks, Sept. 23 through Oct. 10. Those attending can vote on which displays they like most, and the voting will combine technology such as the Web, PDAs and other communication devices. In order to vote, a person has to be registered on the website. A cash prize of $250,000 will be given to the winner of the contest.
