Obama unveils high speed rail line plan

President Obama on Thursday revealed the administration’s plans for developing high-speed rail lines in ten corridors around the country. Included in the plan is one line from Detroit to Chicago and another from Chicago to Toledo and Cleveland right along Michigan’s southern border. Here’s the map of the administration’s planned rail lines:

No reaction yet from Rep. Thad McCotter (R-Livonia), who published an op-ed in the Detroit News two months ago slamming the inclusion of high speed rail funds in the stimulus package. In that op-ed, he claimed that those funds would not help put anyone from Michigan back to work. He also claimed that the funding would go to a ““Sin Express from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.” You might notice that there is no line on the map between those two cities.
