Schauer targeted with robocalls

The robocalls criticize Schauer for voting for the various spending bills the Democrats in charge of Congress have pushed through.

Such robocalls are usually a sign that the party is serious about mounting a challenge to win that seat in the next election. Schauer defeated incumbent Tim Walberg in last fall’s election by a 2.3% margin, with third party candidates receiving twice as many votes as the margin of victory. Walberg’s seat had likewise been targeted by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee because his margin of victory in 2006 showed that he was vulnerable to a challenge.
