With Patterson out, Oakland County’s Bouchard looking at gubernatorial bid

Mike BouchardNow that Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson is out of the running for the GOP nomination for governor, is another prominent political figure in the state’s most populous county eying the state’s top job?

That’s the scuttlebutt over at OaklandPolitics.com, which is reporting that Sheriff Michael Bouchard is considering adding his name to the list of hopeful nominees.

“… [I]t’s no secret here in Oakland County that Sheriff Michael Bouchard … has been waiting for Brooks to make his decision. The word is that Bouchard may make his own move for the Gubernatorial bid, and he certainly presents an interesting option,” the site reports.

The last time Bouchard received statewide political attention was during his 2006 bid for the U.S. Senate, when he got trounced by Democratic incumbent Debbie Stabenow.
