TenderCare South to be shut down

By Brandon Q. White | 09.27.07 | 8:35 pm

LANSING — After TenderCare South successfully lobbied the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for more time to correct safety violations to prevent being shutdown, today TenderCare South was informed that it failed the inspection that could have kept the facility open.

Once the CMS granted a temporary reprieve, TenderCare South under went a final inspection that would ultimately determine its fate. This inspection took place last week and unfortunately, a nurse failed to perform a neurological check, which is a serious violation. The closing of TenderCare South means that 72 residents must be reassigned to other nursing homes and 113 jobs will be lost.

More reporting will be forthcoming as more details become available.
