Detroit police stop mass pillow fight

By Todd A. Heywood | 04.06.09 | 3:25 pm

While many people were watching NCAA Final Four action on their televisions, a group of Detroit area residents were busying preparing for a giant fight– a pillow fight that is.

But Detroit Police showed up at Campus Martius Park and ended the fight before it even began, according to a report in the Detroit Free Press. Cops confiscated an unknown number of pillows from event goers.

The event was organized online by the website Detroit Pillow Fight.

Detroit Police spokesperson James Tate had this to say about the pillow fight:

“We don’t have a problem with consenting adults hitting each other with pillows, but the issue becomes cleanup.”

Tate also said with the Final Four game going on at Ford Field, police resources would be spread too thin by having to police both events.
