Trying to steer the Straight Talk Express through Michigan
I’ve been frequenting a lot of political events over the past few months, and I’ve learned a thing or two, to say the least.
In fact I think I’ve been to enough now that I’ve learned that there are certain cues the speaker gives to let you know it’s time to “make some nooiiise” [kinda like those annoying signs at sporting events, but more subtle].
Here’s what to look for:
- The speaker raises his/her voice.
- Starts listing stuff (becoming more passionate as the list goes on).
- Makes a bold, witty statement and humbly pauses to trigger applause.
But it seemed as if the folks at the General Motors Corp. Technical Center on Friday weren’t reading their political cue cards. Whenever Sen. John McCain would try any of the above tactics to get the crowd to cheer, clap
