Climate change leader tells the ugly truth, offers new plan for America in Obama-esque speech

On Wednesday Al Gore made the speech that many had hoped Barack Obama would have made months ago. It almost seemed that the former vice president was channeling Obama, the presumed Democratic presidential nominee, as his words plainly yet eloquently defined the trouble of our times, offered a course of action and rallied his listeners to the urgency and imperative of … change.

The New York Times, in its coverage, mentioned in part these lines of Gore’s as a preface:

“The survival of the United States of America as we know it is at risk,” he said in a midday speech to a friendly crowd of mostly young supporters in Washington. “And even more – if more should be required – the future of human civilization is at stake.”

This is the full video. There are edits available, but they do not serve.

This is what happened at Constitution Hall in Washington.

Good ol Al I like Al gore.I think he would have been a good president. Can you imagine? no, don’t becuase it will jsut depress you. I agree with everything he is saying here. I don’t think it’s realisic to think we will be off hydrocarbons in 10 years, but it’s better to aim high than low. The one think I have to say that I never understood about Al Gore was his support of NAFTA.  That agreement lowerd enviromnetal standards in North America in several areas. But I guess it shows that there is something visionary about Al Gore because now free trade agreements are all over the place.

I am bitter – Very Very bitter.
    I was a Gore supporter.
Every morning I wake up and wonder where the world would be today if Al Gore was president today.
I wonder what the price of gas would be if Al Gore was president. I wonder how many Americans would be alive today if Al Gore was president. So please forgive me if I’m still bitter.
