MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” to adopt Detroit?

By Minehaha Forman | 03.12.09 | 4:42 pm

Joe Scarborough, host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program, says he wants to help Detroit by airing his daily program from the city.

Scarborough claims he wants to take the city into his family, saying, “I want to adopt the City of Detroit.”

Michigan’s Gov. Jennifer Granholm was a guest on “Morning Joe” Thursday morning and they briefly discussed the adoption before moving on to health care.

“I’m glad you haven’t forgot about adopting us,” Granholm told Scarborough. “I expect that you guys will step up and come here one morning and really embrace your adopted city.”

“We’re not just gonna come there for one morning, we’re gonna be there all the time. We are going to adopt Detroit,” Scarborough replied.

“Seriously, we need to connect on the adoption process,” co-host Mika Brzezinski chimed in.

The date for Morning Joe’s migration to Detroit has not been set, though he did mention that he didn’t want to cramp Jay Leno’s style during Leno’s free concert spree in the area.

But Scarborough shouldn’t worry about bumping into Leno in Detroit since Leno stayed a 40-minute drive away in the manicured suburb of Auburn Hills for his last free concert.

At least now Detroiters can rest easy knowing a new parent’s on the way. Don’t worry, Morning Joe will save us!
