Stewart versus Cramer: more funny-faced cherry-picked Pavlovian fun

By LoRayne Apo-Joynt | 03.11.09 | 8:35 pm

Right on cue, CNBC’s Jim Cramer’s defensive volley was returned Tuesday night by The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart. That’s a wicked backhand Stewart’s got, putting a little spin on the lob by making fun of the team response by the General Electric-owned NBC family.

Will Jim Cramer and the rest of the NBC stable respond to being made fun of by Nickelodeon’s children’s cartoon characters Dora the Explorer and her sidekick Boots?

Or will they finally realize there is no appropriate response but to unilaterally disarm, laugh at themselves, promise to do a better job of reporting financial industry news and then actually follow through?

The final exchange of this inter-network skirmish might take place Thursday night, when Jim Cramer is scheduled to appear on The Daily Show. Too bad for NBC and its family of networks that it set up “Must-See TV” on competitor Viacom’s Comedy Central network.

Or perhaps NBC and CNBC have been foxy about this whole saga; have you noticed that Rick Santelli isn’t being mentioned at all by anybody, as if he’s “fallen off a cliff” like our nation’s economy? That’s a nifty disappearing act, almost like TARP money.
