Senate overwhelmingly rejects Fairness Doctrine

By Ed Brayton | 03.02.09 | 9:19 am

The U.S. Senate supported an amendment that would ban the reimplementation of the Fairness Doctrine by a staggering 87-11 vote. The House supported a similar bill in the last session. And President Obama says he is opposed to it as well. Seriously, can the right wing media finally stop spinning paranoid tails about the left wanting to drag Rush Limbaugh out of his studio in handcuffs?

There is no Fairness Doctrine. There isn’t going to be a Fairness Doctrine. And speaking as a radio talk show host, I’m very happy about that. I’ll be even more glad if the right would stop its demagoguery over the issue.
