By Staff Report | 11.16.11

I am writing today to announce the closure of the Michigan Messenger. After four years of operation in Michigan, the board of the American Independent News Network, has decided to shift publication of its news into a single site, The American Independent at Americanindependent.com. This is part of a shift in strategy, towards new forms [...]

Attention Clinton supporters switching to McCain: avoid buyer’s remorse
If you are a Clinton supporter leaning toward Republican John McCain out of angry pique at the loss of Clinton’s presidential aspirations, you might want to take a look at this tongue-in-cheek series of loyalty oaths from blogger Katie Halper. While the oaths are a joke, Halper’s point is a serious one for voters in Michigan and elsewhere: the distinctions she draws about McCain’s opposition to progressive issues, including progressive issues that independents might find themselves supporting.

Yet another from the Campaign-That-Won’t-Die files
We have news about former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. Not only did he save a fellow politician from choking to death, but Hucksarmy.com is encouraging people to go to MSNBC and cast their cyberballot for the Huckster to be McCain’s runner-up, er, No. 2.

In an “urgent” email from Huck’s minions of the netherland of cyberworld, Brett Harris wrote to followers,

“Dear Huckabee Supporter,

Mike is competing head-to-head with Mitt Romney in the third round
of MSNBC’s Vice-President poll — and will lose unless we rally behind him.

VOTE FOR MIKE NOW:

We’re currently trailing 40% (Mike) to 60% (Mitt). It’s obvious that
Romney supporters have targeted this poll. It is probably the most
important and visible VP poll to date.

Forward this email to any Huckabee supporters you know.

CAST YOUR VOTE FOR MIKE:

Let’s Roll,
Brett Harris.”

From the “also-ran” and ran, and ran category
Ron Paul’s devoted followers press ahead, with Pauline devotees preparing for their very own mini-convention. According to Pittsburghlive, Paul has rented his own convention center in Minneapolis, where he “could steal some of John McCain’s thunder just days before he accepts the Republican nomination.” Of course, the “convention center” is a basketball stadium.

Paul’s supporters in the white supremacy movement will certainly be glad to have a chance to sing his praises one more time before the last ember of presidential ambition dies out. More on the love affair between white nationalists and Paul can be found here here and here.
