The second annual Michigan Policy Summit will be held tomorrow, Saturday, May 10, at the Lansing Center in downtown Lansing. The event, titled “Rebuilding Michigan,” will discuss progressive plans and goals to move the state forward into economic and social recovery. The event drew nearly 500 participants last year.
“In order to move Michigan into the 21st century our state must address the health care, energy, and education crisis in the state,” said Lynn Jondahl, executive director of the Michigan Prospect and former gubernatorial candidate. “Progressive groups recognize we must address these challenges in order to move our state forward.”
The event will run from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., with registration beginning at 8 a.m. Keynote speakers are author and progressive political activist Jim Hightower and radio commentator and journalist Amy Goodman. Michigan Messenger fellows will be on hand live blogging and reporting from the event all day.
