Did Detroit Mayor Cockrel get Obama’s memo about Lobbyists?

By Minehaha Forman | 01.26.09 | 4:25 pm

Much of the month of January has been a holiday for Detroit’s city council. The Detroit News reported that the council took another five-day break right after the annual holiday leave because of the inauguration. From Jan. 16-22 council members were off the hook for city work so they could attend the inauguration.

Mayor Kenneth Cockrel Jr. went to the inauguration, too, and stayed in DC from Jan. 17-21.

Cockrel defended his five-day trip saying he will be lobbying for money from Obama’s stimulus package.

Didn’t Cockrel get Obama’s anti-lobbyist memo? Obama’s camp has said repeatedly that he won’t take money from lobbyists. Maybe it’s good thing Detroit doesn’t have any money to lobby with.
