I was struck by this phrase in the article, similar to rmpcestmoi's concern:

“When Dr. Gupta said that Canada has longer waiting times, I felt like I was being made fun of,” Campbell told Michigan Messenger.

Why would Gupta's factual assertion on a general issue make her feel "like [she] was being made fun of". Give me a break. If someone disagrees with me on a general factual issue - like waiting times - and I feel like that's an insult, I'm being unreasonable. It's a factual question - its not personal. This quote is another in a long line of people over-personalizing factual disputes. There's a role for factual debate - and I find the parts of this article dealing with that debate interesting - but attacking Gupta because he disagrees with you on some factual point and that makes you feel bad is not an intellectually valid reason to oppose him.

The fact that the dispute also revolves around Michael Moore is fascinating. To believe everything he produces is the holy grail of truth is weird. He's a film producer - skilled at the persuasive use of his medium to convey a political viewpoint. It's opinion supported with creative video clips, acting, and editing. He's no more the holy grail of truth than any columnist or radio talk show host on either side of the aisle.

This woman feels her concern for her daughter's health as well as the lack of health care availability are invalidated by Gupta's comments.

What exactly is the measure of invalidation? Are you the official arbiter of what is and isn't legitimate validation or invalidation?

Campbell also said,

“We are supposed to be changing the government making it better and more trustworthy. To put somebody in there who has already blatantly lied to the American people. I think that is wrong,” she said.

She THINKS this is wrong, does not just FEEL it. Do you have an issue with that?

Guess whzt this is? Not a story, really.

How this woman "feels" is of no interest. What she thinks or knows, possibly. Leave the feelings to the religious right.
