Ford sales show massive drop in December

By Ed Brayton | 01.05.09 | 2:39 pm

More bad news for auto sales as the automakers release their sales figures for December and compare them to sales from the previous year. Ford was the first to release their data and the numbers show a sharp decline.

Month to month sales for Ford, which includes the Ford, Lincoln and Mercury brands, fell from 195,105 in December, 2007, to 133,372 last month. That’s a decline of 31.6%. For all of 2008, Ford’s total sales were 1,907,864 units, down from 2,386,957 in 2007 for a drop of 20.1%.

Neither GM or Chrysler has released their figures yet, but should do so before tomorrow.
