DPS school board fires CFO, Superintendent next to go

By Minehaha Forman | 12.12.08 | 1:11 am

Detroit Public School board decided not to renew Chief Financial Officer Joan McCray’s contract. On Monday school board meeting the board will decide on the renewal of the Superintendent Connie Calloway’s contract.

Things aren’t looking good for Calloway. School board members have threatened to terminate her contract before and have repeatedly implied that she is “incompetent” and “doesn’t care.”

Also, since McCray and Calloway joined the DPS ranks together from the same school district in Missouri their fates may be linked.

The Detroit News reported Tuesday that the School Board is already looking for replacements for Calloway should her contract ne terminated at Monday’s school board meeting. No perspective candidates were named.
